02 / Today — At the helm of the company stands Mauro Solinas, the proud son of Giovanni Maria, the visionary entrepreneur who established the brand in 1985. Today Mr. Solinas leads the charge in exporting Smeraldina Water worldwide.

03 / Story — Smeraldina Water came to life because one remarkable and visionary man decided to follow his truth.

Our Founder — In 1955, Giovanni Maria Solinas began his career operating a successful soda factory in northwest Sardinia.
In 1974, during a business meeting in Milan, Giovanni Maria had a chance encounter with a yogi sharing Buddhist teachings that changed his life. He realized he had been living and working for all the wrong reasons and chose to dedicate the rest of his time to the things that truly mattered to him: his family, his health, and his happiness.
In 1978, Giovanni Maria discovered a water of rare balance and superb taste sourced in Tempio — another area of Sardinia and his wife’s home town. He moved his family there so he could infuse this water into his soda business and share it with the world. But, to do so, he had to first name, source, and bottle the water itself.
In 1985, the inaugural Smeraldina Water product launched. By the time the company was prepared for soda production, Smeraldina Water had become so popular that there wasn’t time for anything else. Two years later, Giovanni Maria officially closed down soda production to focus on Smeraldina Water and his own true north.
And so it went on until I became aware of what was always in front of me — water runs downstream — and I understood the importance of being always, and above all, true to oneself. Only then did I realize my dream, fulfilling my own desire to achieve something unique, enduring, and miraculous.
